A cusp-core-like challenge for modified Newtonian dynamics

چکیده
We show that Modified Newtonian Dynamics (MOND) predict distinct galactic acceleration curve geometries in $g2$-space - the space of total observed centripetal accelerations $g_{\rm tot}$ vs inferred from baryonic matter N}$ and corresponding rotation speed curves: MOND modified gravity predicts cored for isolated galaxies while inertia yields neutral geometries, ie. neither cuspy or cored, based on a cusp-core classification galaxy geometry rather than DM density profiles. The can be applied both to models as well data implies {\it cusp-core} challenge observations, example galaxies, which is different so-called problem dark (DM). illustrate this by number also SPARC database, deviate significantly predictions.

Gravitational lensing and modified Newtonian dynamics
Gravitational lensing is most often used as a tool to investigate the distribution of (dark) matter in the universe, but, if the mass distribution is known a priori, it becomes, at least in principle, a powerful probe of gravity itself. Lensing observations are a more powerful tool than dynamical measurements because they allow measurements of the gravitational field far away from visible matte...

We look for observational signatures that could discriminate between Newtonian and modified Newtonian (MOND) dynamics in the Milky Way, in view of the advent of large astrometric and spectroscopic surveys. Indeed, a typical signature of MOND is an apparent disk of “phantom” dark matter, which is uniquely correlated with the visible disk-density distribution. Due to this phantom dark disk, Newto...
متن کاملModified Newtonian Dynamics In Dimensionless Form
Modified Newtonian dynamics proposed that gravitational field needs modifications when the field strength g is weaker than a critical value g0. This has been shown to be a good candidate as an alternative to cosmic dark matter. There is another way to look at this theory as a length scale dependent theory. One will show that modification of the Newtonian field strength depends on the mass distr...

IN HIS PERSPECTIVE “SEEING THROUGH DARK Matter” (3 August, p. 607), Stacy McGaugh describes the success of a modified Newtonian dynamics (MOND) in explaining the flat rotation curves of galaxies without invoking dark matter. In addition to noting that MOND is in accord with available data and observations, it is possible to directly test Newtonian dynamics in the laboratory, even at low acceler...
متن کاملModified Newtonian Dynamics and Induced gravity
Modified Newtonian dynamics, a successful alternative to the cosmic dark matter model, proposes that gravitational field deviates from the Newtonian law when the field strength g is weaker than a critical value g0. We will show that the dynamics of MOND can be derived from an induced gravity model. New dynamics is shown to be compatible with the spatial deformation of scalar fields coupled to t...
